Jealousy: The Hidden Problem

Everyone gets jealous sometimes and it is ok. Jealousy is a human emotion and of course, humans are going to feel human emotions. The problem with jealousy is when it takes over our whole being. I even fall prey to it. In the last few months, I have been dealing with being homeless, with no food or meds. So, when I see someone having fun, I get jealous and I wish they would share some of my suffering. I am not above the green-eyed monster known as jealousy. I think what people need to do is admit that sometimes we get jealous and that it is normal to feel this way. What is not normal is letting the jealousy consume you and it drives you to hate others and you want to see them suffer or cause them suffering.

Most Americans don’t want to admit that they have a  jealousy problem. It would make them seem petty and tarnish their boot strapz image. Harboring jealousy is not petty, it is when someone wants to cause harm and let’s the jealousy take over, that is when it becomes petty. That is when jealousy goes from being a harmless emotion, to something dangerous.

There are many types of jealousy too. From how it destroys love to how it makes people feel who have been humiliated by others. Jealousy takes many forms and I will attach the link from psychology today so you can look at all the different forms of jealousy and what it can do to people and their relationships.

Don’t be ashamed if you feel jealous of others and what they have, feeling jealous is natural and it shows that you feel something, but when someone envies someone to a fault over what someone else has, then jealousy does become the green-eyed monster and it becomes a bigger problem then it should be. Jealousy.
